Andover Youth Council collecting Jeans for Teens
Got some jeans that are cluttering your closet because they’re too big, too small, or just aren’t your style anymore? Well, the Andover Youth Council (AYC) has your cure! AYC has partnered with Aeropostale and www.dosomething.org to “Make a difference in people’s lives.”
Beginning on Thursday January 26th and running through Thursday February 9th, AYC will be collecting gently used jeans. Upon completion of the collection, the jeans will be counted and taken to a local Aeropostale store. From there, the store will deliver them to a local homeless shelter. Jeans can be dropped off in collection boxes located in the main foyer of Andover High School and at the Andover Youth Services office, 37 Pearson St.

Paintball Tuesdays Starts Jan 31
Grab a buddy and get on the bus!!! Get ready to do some sliding, ducking, jumping and some sweet Jackie Chan moves. At Boston Paintball there are plenty of places to hide and SNIPE the opposing team. Boston Indoor Paintball has great staff on hand that have different, challenging games to keep the action exciting. Each course is ready to be stormed like the airports in Modern Warfare. Be sure to wear the appropriate gear for paintball. Do not bring your own gun or paint.
The trip Includes a protective mask, semi automatic gun, and 200 paintballs. Be aware, ammo goes fast and you have to buy your own paintballs when you run out. You may want to split the cost of a case of paint with some friends. *Pizza and drinks are included if the trip is full and has 13 participants
THANK YOU FOR BELIEVING!
On December 5 the community stood together for something positive that will serve the young people of Andover for ever and ever. After 17 years of hard work by the AYS and AYF, a youth center will be built and it will be a point of pride for the town. We couldn't have done it without the help of hundreds of student volunteers, 1422 patient voters (young and old), dedicated AYF members, and all of those who BELIEVEd it could happen. We are deeply thankful for all the support, encouragement, and kind words we've received along the way. It is a victory for everyone to celebrate.
I AM THE ONE CD
I AM THE ONE - is the result of an AYS trip to Kenya that brought Andover musicians, Grimis, together with the raw talent of the students at the Margaret Okari Children's School. The collaboration produced a stunning 2 CD box set that was recorded in a week, in a tent in rural Kisii, Kenya. All proceeds from the sale of the album go toward building a high school at the Margaret Okari Children's School, which educates children K-8th grade that have been orphaned by the AIDS epidemic. Please help us keep hope alive across the ocean and deep in the heart of Africa. Pick up a CD today at the AYS office!
Pearson Street
We are fully moved into 37-39 Pearson St (right behind Depot Pizza!) and it is where you will find the AYS staff for program registration. Our phone number is the same and our mailing address is the same - just the office location has changed. Come by and check out our new digs!
The renovation of Pearson Street - click here for pictures
The house at Pearson St is a huge opportunity for Andover Youth Services to expand it's programming. There are already a number of after school and evening activities taking place at Pearson St. There are skate board park meetings, fashion show clinics, Pulse meetings, art projects, basketball games and more taking place- and we're not even in there yet! Youth that go to Pearson St will go there to participate in a specific activity that they have signed up for.
